We will be staying in Lake Placid October 4-11.This time will be shared between an Airbnb &amp; The Mirror Lake Inn.(Matt’s 30th birthday is this week!)

** We suggest booking sooner than later as this is usually their peak Fall foliage week! It’s also a holiday weekend** There are many hotels in the area. We recommend staying on Main Street as you will find a lot to be within walking distance and most likely will have a lake/mountain view! Late night uber/taxi is hit or miss, best to be within walking distance unless you’re planning to drive to the reception. Below are some hotels we recommend.There are also many Airbnb's within a short driving distance.

Overlooking Mirror Lake and providing stunning mountain views, this Lake Placid hotel features an on-site restaurant and completely non-smoking guestrooms furnished with microwaves and mini-refrigerators. A variety of recreational facilities are available on-site at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Lake Placid-Golf Club, including tennis courts, a putting green and an indoor pool. Guests will also appreciate free wireless internet access and a fitness center. While staying at the Lake Placid Crowne Plaza, guests can enjoy on-site dining at MacKenzies Restaurant, which serves Italian and American cuisine for breakfast and dinner. Olympic Center, Whiteface Mountain and the Adirondack Mountains are only moments from the pet-friendly Lake Placid-Golf Club Crowne Plaza. The Olympic Training Center as well as shopping centres and local restaurants are also nearby.

Grandview Lake Placid

Located opposite Mirror Lake, this Lake Placid Resort along Main Street offers guests access to water sports activities like kayaking and paddle boating. Guests can also enjoy the convenience an on-site dining and Wi-Fi (included in the resort fee) is available. There is also an outdoor and an indoor pool. High Peaks features rooms with a flat-screen cable TV and a refrigerator. The private bathroom includes amenities like a robe, free toiletries and slippers. The rooms have a balcony or a patio. The on-site Dancing Bears Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests have the option to dine outdoors with views of the lake and Adirondack Mountains. There is also an on-site bar. The hotel provides extra beds service for USD 25 per night per room.

High Peaks Resort

Nestled on Mirror Lake this Lake Placid resort offers free Wi-Fi a private beach area and rooms that feature a refrigerator and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Lake Placid Olympic Village is 5 minutes’ walk. Spacious rooms at Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort feature traditional decor along with plush bedding and wood furnishing. Breakfast lunch and dinner are served each day at Generations Restaurant. The menu offers fresh foods that are grown and raised locally. Guests can swim in the indoor pool or relax in the hot tub or sauna. A fitness center is also available. Live entertainment is available at Roomers Nightclub and the Straight Shot Lounge both located on-site. Shopping that offers boutique and specialty stores are just steps away from Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort.

Take the drive up Whiteface mountain for spectacular views of the Adirondack high peaks and lakes. On a clear day, the views stretch as far as Vermont and Canada. After parking, there is an elevator to the summit at 4,867 ft. You can either hike to the summit, or take the elevator that’s carved in the mountain. The hiking path has a rail, the boulders can have slippery spots so be careful. There is a toll entrance fee, $25 for driver, + $20 per passenger. Kids under 6 are free. FUN FACT : This is the hiking path where Matt proposed!

Whiteface Mountain

Lake Placid Olympic Museum Learn about the 1932 & 1980 Winter Olympics (“Miracle on Ice”). Olympic Center & Speed Skating Oval - Tour the historic rinks. FUN FACTS: Matt’s great grandfather was the 1923-1926 NY state champion of speed skating on this track! Melissa & Anastasia met the 1980 Olympic hockey team captain and champion, Mike Eruzione! This is where Matt has crossed the finish line of several Lake Placid half marathons!

Olympic Legacy Attractions

9:00am - 4:30pm Daily $18.25 per adult Feel the mist and breath in the fresh mountain air on this short walk through the bridges and waterfalls! This granite walled gorge has 4 spectacular waterfalls that are accessible by sturdy steel bridges, walkways, and groomed trails.

High Falls Gorge

Walk the 2.7-mile loop trail around Mirror Lake.Rent a kayak from Easter Mountain Sports for the most peaceful kayaking. It’s a no motor lake!Lake Placid is a larger lake where you can rent a boat and fish for trout, bass, and perch.

Mirror Lake

Take the elevator to the top of the ski jumps, views are beautiful! You may even catch the athletes training. If you want to see a beautiful view but don’t take the trip to whiteface mountain, this is a great easy alternative.

Olympic Jumping Complex

Named the “most walkable street in the country”, find shops, restaurants, bars, coffee, and more! All in walking distance down this strip along the lake. Our wedding events will be happening on this street. Here are a few of our favorite spots: Coffee : The Coffee Bar, Bluesberry Bakery. Shops : Imaginatiom Station. Ice Cream : Emma’s Creamery

Main Street

Big Slide Brewery - We love this spot, they have great food too. Close to the Ski jump. Prison City Brewery - New brewery on Main Street, small spot, good beer. Lake Placid Pub & Brewery - Food & local beer but trash.

If you’re looking to summit a mountain, talk to Matt. He’s accomplished a handful of the ADK 46ers. He most likely will go after another while we’re there.
